Odoo training works best when each role gets its own course: the accountant learns the month-end close, the storekeeper learns receipts and stock counts, the buyer learns purchase orders and vendor bills. It should run on your own configuration and your own data, in Arabic or English, on site in Kuwait or online. For most roles that means one or two days before go-live and a shorter follow-up session a few weeks after.
Courses by role
Each team does different work in Odoo, so each gets its own course:
- Accounting: customer invoices and credit notes, vendor bills, payments, bank reconciliation, the period close and the reports management reads.
- Sales: quotations, price lists and discounts, sales orders, delivery status and invoicing for what was delivered.
- Purchasing: requests for quotation, purchase orders and approvals, receipts, and vendor bills matched to what arrived.
- Inventory: receipts, transfers and deliveries, barcode scanning, lots and expiry dates, stock counts and adjustments.
- HR and payroll: employee records, contracts, time off, attendance, payslip batches and the bank salary file.
- Managers: dashboards, approvals from the phone, and the reports that replace their spreadsheets.
Key users, the one or two people per department who answer colleagues’ questions after go-live, get a longer course that includes the settings behind their screens.
On your configuration and your data
Training on Odoo’s demo database teaches the buttons. Training on your own configuration teaches the job: your chart of accounts, your approval rules, your products and your customers. We run courses on a copy of your database. On Odoo.sh that is a staging branch, which Odoo provides for testing with production data; on Odoo Online it is a duplicate made for testing, with emails and other external actions switched off. Mistakes made there cost nothing.
Trainees work through their tasks with real documents: last month’s supplier invoices, a current price list, a stock count sheet from the warehouse. Each one leaves with a written guide for their role, in Arabic or English, with screenshots of your own screens.
Arabic or English, on site or online
Odoo’s screens work in Arabic, right to left, and in English, and each user chooses a language. We teach in the language your team works in. Mixed teams are common: a storekeeper who works in Arabic and a finance manager who works in English use the same system, each in their own language, and the written guides follow the language of each group.
On-site courses run at your office in Kuwait, at trainees’ own desks or in a meeting room with a screen. Online courses run by video call, in shorter sessions spread over more days, because attention drops faster on a call. The hands-on work is the same either way: every trainee needs their own login to the training database.
What an Odoo Learning Partner is
An Odoo Learning Partner has signed Odoo’s partnership agreement and has what a trainer needs to teach the real product: the right to use the Odoo name and partner logo, the Enterprise source code, Odoo.sh for training databases, and Odoo’s partner training and knowledge base. Odoo also ranks the partners that sell Enterprise subscriptions as Ready, Silver or Gold, by the users they sell each year and the certifications their consultants hold; that ranking measures sales, not teaching.
IT Horizon is an Official Odoo Learning Partner. When you choose a trainer, also ask whether they configure Odoo on the version you run, whether the course uses your own setup, and who supports your team after go-live.
Odoo’s certification exams
Odoo runs its own certification exams online through odoo.com, one for each Odoo version. As listed on odoo.com in October 2026, the Odoo 19 functional exam has 120 questions to answer in 90 minutes, needs 70% to pass and takes half a point off for each wrong answer, so guessing costs marks. It covers most of Odoo, from CRM, Sales and Purchase to Accounting, Inventory, Manufacturing, HR, Point of Sale and Studio. The certificate belongs to the person who passed it and cannot be transferred.
Certification suits the people who will own the system: key users and your internal Odoo administrator. Odoo publishes a sample test and video tutorials on odoo.com, and our preparation covers the functional ground the exam tests, with practice on a working database. Staff who only need their daily screens do not need it.
Planning training before and after go-live
Train too early and people forget before the system is live; train too late and the first week live is spent learning instead of working. This is the order we follow:
- Key users during the build. They join the workshops, test the configuration and learn the settings, so they can answer colleagues later.
- End users one to two weeks before go-live. Close enough to remember, early enough to fix what the training brings to light.
- A practice day. Each team processes a normal day’s documents on the training database, from start to finish.
- Support at the desk in the first days live. A consultant at your office, answering questions where people work.
- A follow-up after the first month-end. A short session on what went wrong in the first close, then refresher sessions for new staff and new apps.
Training is part of every Odoo implementation we run. We also train teams whose system was set up by another partner, starting with a review of how they use it today.
A sample 2-day course for an accounting team
This is the agenda we start from for a finance team on Odoo Accounting. We adjust it to your setup before the course: a company with stock spends more time on inventory valuation, a group with several companies on inter-company entries.
| Session | Topics | Exercise on your data |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1, morning | Chart of accounts, journals, customer and vendor records, the accounting dashboard | Find a customer’s balance and open invoices |
| Day 1, midday | Customer invoices, credit notes, payment terms, invoices in Arabic and English | Issue last week’s invoices and one credit note |
| Day 1, afternoon | Vendor bills from purchase orders, bill control, payments and batch payments | Record and pay a set of supplier bills |
| Day 2, morning | Bank statement import, reconciliation and reconciliation models, exchange differences | Reconcile one month of one bank account |
| Day 2, midday | Petty cash, expenses, fixed assets and deferred entries | Post a month of petty cash and one new asset |
| Day 2, afternoon | Period close: checks, lock dates, profit and loss, balance sheet, aged receivables and payables | Close a test month and read the reports |
Each session ends with the trainees doing the exercise on their own login. The last hour of day two goes to questions on your own open items, which usually produces a short list of configuration fixes to make before go-live.
Training for teams in Kuwait
- Mixed-language teams. Finance staff often work in English and warehouse staff in Arabic, so we run separate groups or teach in both, with guides in each language.
- Dinars to three decimals. Exercises use Kuwaiti dinar amounts, so trainees see fils on invoices and in bank reconciliation as they will in daily work.
- No VAT in Kuwait. Accounting courses for Kuwaiti companies leave out VAT returns; groups with companies in Saudi Arabia or the UAE get a VAT and e-invoicing session for those companies.
- Kuwaiti payroll. HR courses cover end-of-service indemnity, leave balances, PIFSS for Kuwaiti staff and the bank salary file.
- The working week. Sessions are planned around the Friday and Saturday weekend and around Ramadan working hours.
What IT Horizon does
We are an Odoo partner in Salmiya with 10+ years of Odoo work. Our courses are taught by the consultants who configure Odoo for clients, in Arabic or English, at your office in Kuwait or online for teams elsewhere in the Gulf and Egypt. We prepare the training database, the exercises and the written guides from your configuration, and we prepare key users for Odoo’s certification exam when you want them certified. How our Odoo training works.
What to do next
- List the people to train by role, with the language each one works in.
- Note your go-live date or, if you are already live, the tasks people still do outside Odoo.
- Book a consultation and send the list. We reply with a course plan by role, the number of sessions and the cost.
